PRAIRIELAND PLAYER NEWS

Fall 2005

TheatreOne Festival, Moose Jaw

The Prairieland Players came up big on Friday November 4th! Not only did they win the Jacquie and Morris Shumlatcher Trophy as the best play (out of 9 presentations!), but they did it with a play written by 3 members of the cast! Shauna Meek collaborated with the Jeansons, Suzanne and Jarrod, to write "300 Seconds", a side-splitting play about speed dating.

Congratulations to the cast and crew!!

Haunted House

We regret to inform the community that we will be unable to present the Haunted Court House this year.  Our “Queen of Halloween” Dawn Turner, is experiencing some medical problems that have made it difficult for her to commit the time and effort to create a wonderfully scary experience.  The Prairieland Players do not feel right attempting the Haunt without our main gal who conceived the idea, and so will postpone the Haunted House until next year with the hope that all will be back to normal.  We know this is a disappointment for the town, and apologize for the cancellation, but hope that you all understand and support our decision.

TheatreOne Festival

On a positive note, The Prairieland Players will be competing at Theatre Saskatchewan’s annual provincial TheatreOne Festival, to be held in Moose Jaw this November.  We are pleased to announce we will performing a local play entitled “300 Seconds” written by Jarrod Jeanson, Suzanne Jeanson and Shauna Meek.  Rehearsals are starting soon, and we will be presenting the play Sunday, October 30th at 2:30 pm at the P.C.C.  There is no need for tickets; there will be a coin collection at the door.  Please come out and attend the production, as all monies raised will fund our expenses for festival, including hotel, travel, entry fees, and insurance costs.

Spring 2005

The Prairieland Players put on“Getting Ahead in the Corporate World”, a comedy written by Josh Burns and Ryan Lawrence of Moose Jaw.  The performances by all accounts were superb. There was a very nice write up in the Kerrobert Citizen about the performances.
